Oh Oh!

I got a text from Scott a couple of days ago informing me that the vent that is located in Charley's closet would be bigger than in the drawing.  Sometimes Scott tends to exaggerate.  I had to see it for myself...
What is this monstrosity that has taken up a 1/3 of her closet?  Well, these are the heating and AC vents and return air.  Her walk-in closet is now a regular-sized closet.  She's not going to like it!

We decided to have two furnaces and two ACs to allow us to have more control of the different zones in the house.  In the past, we found that the second floor was never cool enough in the summer so we would crank up the AC but then the basement would be freezing.  This way, we can just turn on the AC for the floor that is being used depending on the time of day.  We could've eliminated this venting problem by placing the furnace in the attic but then if something was wrong with the furnace, we would have to go up to the attic.  So, I guess this is a small sacrifice that we Charley can live with.

The HVAC people have done quite a lot of work in a few short days.

Venting for the dryer as well as for all the washrooms are done.

That's a lot of metal!
The framers have been busy as well.

Waffled ceiling in the family room.

The skylight opening that will be the focal point of the house.

Another look at the flare out.
 So have the plumbers.

It looks like the plumbers left notes for each other.

Oh oh!  I hope Rob isn't in too much trouble...

We Chose The Right Colour!

When the roofer first took the job, Scott suggested to him that we should get a crane so that he can work safely.  He insisted that he can do it with a ladder.  However, half way through the second day on the job, he realized that it was too steep in the front and it was just too difficult to work.  So we rented this machine called the articulating boom and in one day, he got the job done!

I think we've achieved the look!

I love the detail of the roof over the middle window.

We had a look at the progress of the plumbing work as we haven't been inside for a few days.  As I walked over to the kitchen, I realized that we really need to plan ahead and make certain decisions now.  We had just come back from seeing Mario from Atlas Kitchens.  Base on his measurements, I would not have enough room for a dishwasher on the left side of the sink as well as a Lazy Susan in the corner.  I will have to have the dishwasher on the right hand side of the sink and the trash/recycling pullout on the left side.  Does this mean that the plumber has to move the pipes to accommodate the new layout?

Mario showed me this new storage called Le Mans that I can have in place of the Lazy Susan if I'm tight for space.  It utilizes the corner but only requires one door to access it.  Isn't this so cool?
