We met up with Daniel Wednesday night to discuss what we thought were a few minor changes to the first draft. Well, the one little change (making the opening to above centered to the dinning room) resulted in a domino effect or as Daniel like to put it, a trickle effect of changes to the layout. Luckily the changes were minimal and we didn't have to make any sacrifices to the main floor plan.
Daniel came back to us the next day with the changes for us to have a look over. We made a couple of minor, minor changes (adding a window to the water closet in the master ensuite and opting for sliders to the mudroom closet). The only sacrifice we had to make was that we couldn't make Charley's bathroom any bigger. I wanted to have drawer space for her in the vanity but we didn't want to compromise bedroom floor space. So, I will have to get her a makeup table in her room. "MAKEUP???" Scott almost freaked upon hearing this. "She's not wearing any makeup until she's thirty!!" Yes dear, that's also the age when she's allowed to date! :)
I received the new front elevation jpeg format from Daniel but was not able to upload it because of it's large size. I'm not a computer savvy person at all and have been learning slowly (but surely) how to upload and download images and adding links by trial and error. So when I figure out how to add the front elevation, I will share it with you.
This is the new main floor layout:
The opening to above is now centered to the dining room opening. We are getting a 48" fridge so that leaves us with only 2 feet left for my desk which is too small. It's probably going to be more cupboard space but we haven't decide on that yet.
The second floor:
I love my ensuite! We get lots of storage and I get my makeup table!! The new layout allowed us to have a nice sized computer nook and all the bedrooms have a walk-in closet.
The new basement layout:
The entertainment area is now in the back of the house to make good use of the large window and double french doors. Hey we even have enough room for a ping-pong table! Can't get the Asian out of us!
We are happy with the new layout and elevation. Daniel is working on the side, rear elevations and cross-sections. We're meeting this Thursday to see the drawings. If all goes well, we can submit them to the city for PAL (Pre-Application Applicable Law) Review. The first of a long list of applications in order to get our building permit.
