First draft.

Daniel met up with us this afternoon to show us his first draft of the layout with the elevation.  We weren't expecting him to have the elevation yet so we were pleasantly surprised.

We need to soften the look of the windows a bit otherwise we like the multiple roof lines and the little details.

The main floor:
A few changes, I would like a phone desk next to the fridge instead of the broom closet which will go in the walk-in pantry.  The opening to above should be centered to the dining room.  That means having to shift the stairs.  I hope this is possible.  A bigger mudroom would be nice too.

The second floor:
Love the boys' shared bath and the master retreat with the balcony.  I'll certainly make good use of it when I have to escape from the kids and maybe even the hubby!

We need a bigger computer nook so that means that we'll have a smaller laundry and a slightly smaller master walk in closet :(

I thought the ensuite was nicely laid out but we're lacking drawer space at the vanity.  Also, we're going to have a stand alone tub which would not look appropriate in the corner so it looks like back to the drawing board in the ensuite!  I was thinking that Charley's bathroom lacks drawer space as well.  She'll need some place to store her hair dryer, brushes, curling irons, flat irons, makeups etc.  Maybe we need to make her bathroom a little bigger.  What do you think?

The basement:
We are flipping the entertainment area to the back of the house and put more windows in the back.  Other than that everything looks alright.  I really like the idea of having an enclosed playroom.  Keep all their stuff inside and close the door, the mess magically disappears!

Any suggestions about the layout would be greatly appreciated!

Can I have this house?

Yesterday Scott and I went to see a model home in the Angus Glen Community.  It was beautifully designed and decorated by Jane Lockhart from the show called Colour Confidential.  She normally uses bold colours in her designs but stayed safe with a neutral palette in this house, which worked really well together.  We loved the main floor layout so much that we want the exact same in our house.  Well not exactly, we still need to squeeze that main floor guest room in.

The family room with the waffled ceiling.

The breakfast nook.  It's big enough for us to use our treasured dining table.

The gourmet kitchen with the massive island.

The open to above hallway next to the dining room.  Great feature!

We're meeting Daniel tonight to give him our new layout requirements.  He hasn't started the work yet and we're already making changes.  And we thought we knew what we wanted!
